Hysteroscopy uses a small camera through the cervical opening to visualize the uterine lining. This procedure is usually performed to evaluate abnormal bleeding. A D&C is usually performed at the same time. Fibroids and endometrial polyps that protrude into the uterine lining can be diagnosed and usually removed with a hysteroscope.

It is uncommon to experience significant pain afterward. You can return to your normal activities the next day. However, it is best to refrain from sexual intercourse for 2 weeks to prevent uterine infection.
